It was a great day and we were so fortunate to have so many friends and family members come from near and far (and brave 95 South traffic) to celebrate Grayson's birthday with us. Gray was completely spoiled by everyone and as Jim mentioned...we may need to add on, just to have room to store the toys! He got some musical instruments and books (2 of his favorite things); he got some very cool clothes to keep him stylish; he got a rocking horse and a baseball bat and ball (mommy thinks that she may use that on daddy when necessary until Gray is old enough to play with it on his own); he got a VERY cool slide that will have to set up in the backyard this spring; he got lots of other great musical and learning toys and some cars and trucks; he got his own big boy chair and a share of stock in Disney from mommy and daddy; but I think by far his favorite gift was from Cousin Loretta (who surprised us and drove all the way in from Indiana for the day)...Hokie Pokie Elmo...He loves that thing! And dances with it all the time!
My goal over Gray's 1st year was to ensure that he didn't have any cake or icing so that we'd get that first experience on his birthday. So, he had cake on his actual birthday and then another cake for the party. He wasn't really sure what to think of the cake. And even by Saturday, he wasn't so sure...so, he obviously didn't inherit his mother's sweet tooth, so that's probably a good thing.
