Even without Thomas we still had a great weekend...for the most part. We rented a caboose-turned-motel room for the weekend, which Gray absolutely loved. We enjoyed it too, although accommodations were tight. I don't think becoming a hobo is in my future.
And then we started to walk around the shops. All was fine until it was time to go. At that point, Grayson decided to throw the mother of all temper tantrums. And as Murphy could, I'm sure, have warned us...this would begin when we were all the way at one end of the train area and we had to walk the 400 miles past all of the on-lookers to get down to the area to cross the tracks and get to the car. Wil decided that he would pretend that he didn't know us...so he took off...leaving me with a soda in each pocket, my camera backpack on my back, my camera around my neck, my hat (which kept flying off in the wind), and carrying Grayson while he screamed the WHOLE way past everyone. Ahhh...one of those proud parenting moments as I tried to rationalize with a screaming child...
After the screaming incident, we went back to our caboose to take a nap and after Grayson woke up in a much better mood we went to dinner.
We had big plans for Sunday, but unfortunately Gray woke up at 2am running a fever, so we got him cooled down and back to sleep and then decided to head home in the morning and forego any more outings for the weekend.
So, even with the meltdown and cutting the trip short, we still had a great weekend getaway!
